Weyakwin’s history

Weyakwin is a northern Saskatchewan hamlet on Highway 2, on the south bank of the Weyakwin River. The river carries water out of Weyakwin Lake and east to Montreal Lake.

The community's name comes from the Cree language, where it means foul or profane language. In Cree the place is known as wiyahkwêwinihk (ᐏᔭᐦᑵᐏᓂᕽ).
